The Swimaholic Strength Paddles are an essential part of your swimming kit. The paddles are made from polypropylene.
The paddles will help you strengthen your upper body and also help you practice the correct stroke. The paddles come with black silicone rubber bands to attach to your hands. You can adjust these bands to suit your needs
The adjustment options for the silicone rubber bands are shown in the picture below.
The paddles come in a very nice package, which can be used even after the first unpacking, as it is Velcro fastened. Once you have taken them out, you need to put the silicone rubber bands on the paddles to attach them to your hand. You can adjust them to your liking. Then just jump in the water and go for a swim.
The paddles feel great in your hand and are really easy to swim with. They're straight and stiff, so you'll be really fast with them, and you'll get good strength training with them. A big plus is the wide range of sizes. There's really something for everyone, we have sizes XS - L. If you want to swim with them, the paddles should overlap your palm by 10-20%. Alternatively, you can buy a smaller size and practice sculling with them.
You will notice a cut-out at the bottom of the paddles. This is used to mimic a natural movement when swimming with the paddles, because for example in the stroke phases we have a twisted wrist and this would not be possible without this cut-out.
I recommend paddles to all swimmers for strength training (I recommend taking a size larger) or for training proper stroke technique (I recommend the size you normally wear).
Finally, take off the silicone bands that hold your wrists in place and keep only the ones that hold your fingers. Now it's time to perfect your technique. The paddles won't hold as well, they can slip off or feel like they're going sideways with poor technique, so you need to pay more attention to getting your hand in the water properly, the stroke and working in the streamline. You will learn something new and it will take you further.
